Bournemouth University (abbreviated BU) is a public university in Bournemouth, Dorset, England, with its main campus situated in neighbouring Poole.
The institution was a nominee for two awards in British higher education in 2009: “University of the Year” and “Research Project of the Year” awards from the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards.

High-level athletes can apply for the BU Sport Scholarship if they want to enroll in undergraduate or graduate studies at BU. The scholarship is intended to give you the resources you need to advance your athletic prowess and develop them further.
You are eligible to apply for funding of up to £5,000, which you can use for coaching, equipment, competition registration fees, travel costs, or support services.
You must exhibit excellence in your chosen sport, be a member of a Regional, National, or International squad, and participate in competitions at those levels. Ideally, scholarship recipients will represent BU in the BUCS program (League and Individual) as well as themselves, their club, or both at the regional, national, and international levels. Individual athletes will also need to compete against the best participants in the BUCS program.
If you are granted a scholarship, you must meet with the sports performance manager to discuss how the money will benefit you over the course of the year, make a commitment to show up for 75% of training sessions, represent BU in sporting events whenever possible to increase awareness of SportBU’s initiatives, and be featured in promotional materials.
You must participate in our trial process and be evaluated by our coach as part of your application for a BU Sport Scholarship.
If you are applying for a sport that is not part of our performance BUCS program, you must send two references with your application. Your application must be supported by a reference from a High-Performance Coach or National Governing Body Coach.

The university reserves the right to withdraw, modify, or add new scholarships at any time. Scholarships are regularly reviewed. Scholarships are available based on funding and space. Unless otherwise specified, the scholarship is only given during your first year.
