Chelsea and Scotland young star Billy Gilmour is to have a medical at Norwich on Thursday ahead of a proposed loan deal.

The Scotland midfielder has made just five first-team appearances since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as manager in January.

Gilmour has agreed to join the Canaries for the 2021-22 season and will have his medical on Thursday.

Chelsea are open to the idea of Gilmour going out on loan to play regularly next season but they see his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Billy Gilmour now needs more first team football at club level to help his progression, and a loan move could bolster the player’s development

The young star made 11 appearances for the Blues last season, five of which came in the Premier League.

Norwich have already signed goalkeeper Angus Gunn and Kosovo winger Milot Rashica as they prepare for life back in the top flight.

The Canaries’ return to the Premier League will begin with Liverpool visiting Carrow Road on the opening day of the season.
