Ben Chilwell has issue a thankful message to his supporters after suffering a ‘partial injury of his ACL’
On Friday afternoon, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Chilwell will be out for at least six weeks due to partial tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his right knee.
Tuchel is obviously hoping that Chilwell will be back in the team after the six-week period, but he also pointed out a possibility of the defenderβs needing a surgery procedure. Chilwell is understandably infuriated by the timing of the injury.
The 24-year-old has just re-established himself as the first-choice left wing-back in the last couple of months. Not to mention that he is also arguably one of the most in-form Chelsea players, alongside Reece James.
Taking to Instagram, Chilwell has reacted to the lay-off as he delivers a thankful message to his supporters.
He wrote: "Very frustrating picking up an injury in a moment like this when I am really enjoying my football and playing in this team. I will do everything I can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. Thank you for all the messages of support."
However, Chilwell is not the only Chelsea player who will be absent in Sundayβs Premier League clash with Manchester United. Mateo Kovacic remains out with a hamstring injury, while NβGolo Kante, who injured his knee during the Juventus win, will be out for several days.
Manchester United, on the other hand, will be without at least three key players for their trip to Stamford Bridge.
