Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is almost the complete package and ‘one of the best defenders in the world’.
Frank worked with Christensen while he was in charge of Denmark’s youth teams and has been impressed by his development at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are back in action this weekend after the international break with a trip to London rivals Brentford, who are seventh having only lost one of their seven league games.
The Blues will be looking to extend their position at the top of the Premier League table, though, and have a decent run of fixtures to try build some momentum.
Opposition manager Frank has reserved special praise for Christensen ahead of Saturday’s league fixture. He told Danish outlet Bold when asked about Christensen:
“At the moment, he is one of the best defenders in the world. He has always been enormously intelligent on the pitch, meaning very quick to anticipate all situations offensively and defensively.
“He is technically hugely strong for a defender in terms of bringing the ball forward, passing and making good choices. He is also foresighted and fast at the same time, so it’s almost the complete package.”
Christensen defends with real authority and intelligence despite not being the most aggressive, so it’s superb for Tuchel to have such a reliable figure in the back-three.
