Following their victory against Liverpool, Rio Ferdinand identified the Manchester United player who ought to succeed Harry Maguire as captain.
For his team’s Monday match against Liverpool at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag benched Maguire.
The Red Devils earned their first Premier League victory with the help of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez starting in defense.
Ferdinand thinks Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder who led his team to a 2-1 victory, will “benefit the most from having the armband.”
He mentioned this when talking on his YouTube channel: “I believe we should remain with Fernandos since it appears that he thrives on the responsibility.
“Because of his ego, Bruno always tries to take the lead. There is no debating who the main man is when Cristiano enters.
Regardless of who you are or what you have done, there is no escaping the fact that he is the main guy.
Ferdinand continued: “Bruno was, in my opinion, the star when he first arrived, becoming something of a cult figure because to his performances and goals. However, when Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, Bruno was somewhat overshadowed.
“He was achieving such high levels that he has dropped off the levels as much as anyone.
David De Gea and Varane, who have previously led Man United, are just two of the many potential captain possibilities for Ten Hag.
Similar to Fernandes, who Ferdinand has endorsed to take over as the club’s captain in the wake of Maguire’s uncertain future.
