Olivier Giroud teed up AC Milan to announce his move to the San Siro by bidding farewell to Chelsea on social media.

Olivier Giroud teased the Milan switch by revealing he would be embarking on “a new journey with a light and happy heart”.

The Chelsea striker has undergone a medical in Milan and sign a two-year contract.

After completing his medical, he was swamped by Milan fans outside the medical clinic and commented: “How do I feel with the colors of Milan? Perfect.”

However, the one time Champions League winner has put down an emotional farewell message on Twitter and Facebook to Chelsea Football Club, blues teammates and fans.

To all the Blues, to my teammates, to my coaches Antonio Conte, Frank Lampard, Maurizio Sarri and Thomas Tuchel, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments of emotions we shared all together.

I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League and Champions league have been magnificent.

Love Oli G.”

The France international arrived at Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal back in 2018 and has been a reliable No.9 option and provided the relatively young Blues squad with experience.

In total, he has scored 39 goals from 119 appearances for Chelsea — which is impressive given he started most games from the bench.

Giroud will be the second Chelsea player to join Milan on a permanent deal, following Fikayo Tomori has already signed a permanent deal with the Serie A side, having previously had a successful loan spell at San Siro.

Seemingly, now Giroud’s time in Chelsea is set to be over, a new chapter begins.
