Chelsea came from a goal down to win their first friendly of preseason, beating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.
Second half goals from Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo helped Chelsea complete a 2-1 pre-season win over Bournemouth.
Chelsea came out 2-1 victors against Bournemouth in the Blues’ second match of pre-season, with Thomas Tuchel fielding no less than 22 players.
A goalless first half saw the sides go in level before an Emiliano Marcondes goal gave the visitors the lead on the 66th minute.
Chelsea were back on level terms just five minutes later as Rahman delivered an inch perfect cross to find Broja unmarked in the Bournemouth box. The Albanian cushioned the ball down before calmly finishing into the roof of the net.
Ugbo put the Blues ahead on the 76th minute, combining with fellow substitute Barkley as the striker headed home from point blank range following a corner delivery.
Substitutes Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo found the net as Chelsea completed a turnaround with goals in the 72nd and 76th minute.
Conor Gallagher — who has reportedly drawn the interest of Leeds United, who are keen to take the England youth international on loan this season — was the only Chelsea player to play the whole 90 minutes.
This is what Thomas Tuchel said after Chelsea’s win from behind against Bournemouth: “I’m always happy when we win because we play to win. It was a tough test. It was a tough beginning because Bournemouth started very brave and direct and aggressive and offensive. We needed some time to adapt and feel more comfortable. We controlled the first half and had some big chances but couldn’t score.
Then in the second half we did a lot of changes and interrupted our own rhythm. We had some crucial ball losses to give away two big chances but it’s nice because we came back and showed a good mentality. It was a good test after training camp time but we continued it in Cobham and had a huge overload week and we didn’t have the freshest legs but it was a good test.”
