The Chelsea F.C. legend Frank Lampard previously led the Blues between 2019 and his appointment as caretaker manager follows Graham Potter’s departure.

Frank Lampard has led Chelsea training for the first time since returning to the club as interim manager, with the majority of players visibly glad to see him.

During his previous tenure as manager, which spanned 2019 to 2021, the 44-year-old guided the Blues to fourth place in the Premier league and an FA Cup final. On Thursday, he was named manager for the remainder of the current campaign.

While interacting with new players like the struggling winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who appeared to be in-depth conversation with the returning legend, he has been photographed grinning with familiar faces.

Mason Mount, a former favorite of the new manager, as well as N’Golo Kante following his recent injury comeback, appeared to be happy to see him back.

After playing alongside the coach in the 2014 World Cup, Raheem Sterling allowed himself to smile throughout the session.

Enzo Fernandez said nothing, but he has been one of the better performers in a struggling Chelsea team since his British record transfer in January.

Graham Potter left the club on Sunday after a disastrous seven months in command, prompting Lampard’s appointment.

The former Brighton manager leaves the team 11th in the league, closer to the relegation zone than the top four, despite reaching the Champions League quarter finals.

The legend stated to the media shortly after Chelsea F.C. officially confirmed his return:: ‘[It was] a surprise in terms of you never know the decision the club are going to make.

‘I’ve been particularly enjoying my time at home. When you get time at home you can throw yourself into your family.

‘But it was easy decision for me, this is my club. I’m also a very practical person.

‘I’ve been on a different path since I left Chelsea but to come back when I’ve been asked and I come back with a belief that I can help until the end of the season.

‘I’m delighted to get the opportunity and I’m thankful. I’ve a good understanding of the squad, the training ground, the stadium and the fans and I’ll do my best.’

When asked if the Chelsea F.C. legend ever imagined himself managing the team once more, the club’s all-time leading scorer added: ‘I didn’t think I’d never be in this seat. I understand the club and the game.
