James Maddison has drawn interest from Arsenal on a regular basis, and with Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League, the midfielder could be leaving the Foxes.
James Maddison would surely improve Arsenal’s squad, but the Gunners already have a number of creative players, with Martin Odegaard being a key member of that group. Scoring 15 goals from midfield in the previous season, Odegaard was a crucial player for Arsenal.
James Maddison would have to contend with Martin Odegaard for a spot in the team if he makes a move to Arsenal.
Kevin Campbell, a former Arsenal forward, claims that the two players have unique traits that set them apart, indicating that they each provide something unique to the team.
“I like Maddison, I think he’s a really good player. Could he fit our squad? Of course, he could fit our squad,” Campbell told Egal Talks Football.
“We have Odegaard, but he’s a different type player in a sense to Odegaard. They have some traits that are similar, where they can pick a pass. But I think James Maddison is a little bit more dynamic, he’s a little bit more willing to get into the box than Odegaard.”
Although Maddison is currently one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League, pairing him with Odegaard will be challenging.
Martin Odegaard fixes Arsenal’s creative problems thus the club can only drop Maddison if he agrees to compete for a spot on the team from the bench.
